How to Rent a Vacation Home in Egypt Without Getting Scammed
Practical checklist for renting a chalet or apartment in Egypt safely — what to ask, what to verify, and how to structure payment.
1. Get the payment schedule in writing
Confirm the required deposit, remaining balance, recipient, and refund terms before sending money. Do not rely on an assumed standard split.
2. Verify the unit exists
Ask for a recent dated photo with today's newspaper or a live WhatsApp video walk-through. Stock photos are easy to copy.
3. Confirm the compound entry permit
Most North Coast compounds require an owner-issued entry permit (تصريح) sent to the gate in advance. Without it you'll be turned away.
4. Get the resort fee in writing
Marassi, Hacienda, Telal — each has separate resort/beach fees. Ask "Is this included or paid at the gate?" before booking.
5. Keep a written request and approved quote
Menazil records an availability inquiry before confirmation. Keep the inquiry reference and verify the approved quote, dates, unit, and payment instructions supplied by the team.
